Details and links to the sign-up and reading logs can be found on our website montaguepubliclibraries.org and by clicking the news title in this post.
CHILDREN:
The Montague Public Libraries’ Summer Reading Program begins the week of June 22nd! You get a prize just for signing up! Details are subject to change as state and local guidelines change.
Visit our website montaguepubliclibraries.org for information about Curbside Pick-Up and how you can borrow library books to read this summer.
There are two different ways you can sign up, keep track of your reading and participate this summer.
Choose one:
Online - Sign up online and fill out our online form by entering the books you read and some other information once a week so you can be entered into the two prize raffle drawings*.
Can’t get online? Pick-Up - Several paper reading logs and Stuck in My Castle Bingo cards are included in your Summer Reading bag. You can pick up a bag at any of our three library branches at curbside pick-up. Email a photo of your completed reading log or Bingo card to arovatti-leonard@cwmars.org OR put it in the book drop at one of the Montague Public Libraries with your name and phone number - Carnegie, 201 Avenue A, Montague Center, 17 Center Street, Millers Falls, 23 Bridge Street.
There is no set number of books you must read. Please enter your name in the virtual log or write your name on your paper log. We need your name and contact info for the prize drawings. Only one entry per week, please!
*Monthly drawings will be held - one in July, the other in August - and the winners will receive a special prize by mail or by picking it up at curbside pick-up.
Virtual Summer Reading Programs (a link to programs will be provided closer to the day of each program!):
Friday, June 26th, join us for the Kick-off with Rainforest Reptiles at 10:30am!
Zoom into the world of Fascinating Frogs - Get your questions ready and join Rainforest Reptile Shows for a virtual educational presentation about frogs from around the world.
Join Arthur and Peter Evans, of Makerspace Workshops, via Zoom on Thursday, July 16, 3:00 (ages 8+) to have fun learning how to design a 3D printed object. In the Zoom program they will assist and advise participants throughout the process. Having a parent nearby will certainly help, if possible! For those who set up their own account, they can email their finished 3D file. Finished 3D prints can be picked up at the library. Everything else you need to know will be revealed during the Zoom program. Call 413-863-3214 OR email arovatti-leonard@cwmars.org to sign up. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Montague Cultural Council, a local agency funded by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
Friday, July 31st No Strings Marionettes will perform Handsome and Gretel at 10:30 am. If Governor Baker lifts some restrictions and the local Health Department and Town Administrator approves, we may be able to have the puppet show at Peskeomskut Park, across the street from Carnegie Library. It’s unlikely but there is a small chance. Stay tuned!
Tuesday, August 11th, Jim Cruise “The Spoon Man” will offer a hilarious interactive comedy program for all ages at 10:30am.
Join local children’s yoga teacher Jackie Howard for Breath Read Move! Dates and times to be announced. This session will include kid friendly breathing practices, stories that focus on kindness, mindfulness & gratitude and fun yoga/movement practices for kids and their grown-ups!
In July, there will be two Take-and-Make Crafts:
July 7th – Fantasy Dragon Eggs
July 21st – Fairy & Gnome Mini Gardens
The materials you need will be in a bag that you can come get during our curbside pick-up hours.
