The Montague Public Libraries have been awarded a provisional Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant for $15,000 from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) AND a $6,200 grant from the Library Initiative for Teens and Tweens (LITT).

The grants will support Beyond Library Walls––Serving Teens and Tweens––a project designed to address the myriad mental health challenges faced by youth ages 11 to 17 in the community.

Youth Services Librarian Angela Rovatti-Leonard will work with Children’s Programs Assistant, Grae McLaughlin, and partner organizations, The Brick House and Montague Catholic Social Ministries, to build out-of-school community support for local youth. Beyond Library Walls will empower young individuals through youth support, social emotional learning, and peer-to-peer connections.

By implementing youth-centric programs, fostering collaboration, including tweens and teen voices in the process, and increasing access to resources, the Montague Public Libraries intend to make a lasting impact on the well-being of our youth.

Stay tuned for details to come this fall!
