Happy New Year, Montague!

Though the temperatures may be low and the days may be short, it’s the perfect time of year to cozy up with a good book, to play a new board game with your family, to spend the day at a museum, or to try snow shoeing for the first time. Here at MPL, we can help you with all those activities.

Check out our Library of Things for games, tools, karaoke machines, snowshoes, a bread maker, and even a Belgian waffle maker! You can borrow a sewing machine and start a new project or make snow blocks to build an epic snow fort. Have an idea for a thing that we should add to the collection? Let us know!

Thanks to the Friends of the Montague Public Libraries, MPL also has museum passes to Mass MOCA, the Clark Art Institute, the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra, and more.

Of course, we also have a ton of new books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, and e-content for all tastes, interests, ages, and reading levels. Check out some Best of 2024 lists for literary inspiration or, even better, ask one of our staff members for a recommendation.

Last, but not least, we have several programs for the public to enjoy this month. At the Montague Center Branch, artworks by local youth will go on display on Wednesday, January 8th. The Millers Falls Branch Book Club with discuss James by Percival Everett and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain on Thursday, January 9th. The Montague Center Book Club will discuss The History of Sound by Ben Shattuck on Thursday, January 30th. And finally, back by popular demand, Angela will host a Bluey Party on Saturday, January 18th at the Discovery Center. Come by and play library among many of our other Bluey play stations!

Happy reading!

Caitlin
