The Montague Public Libraries' Building Project Received State Funding!
We are thrilled to announce that the Montague Public Libraries' application to the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program has been awarded
This competitive program supports new library construction, as well as library additions, renovations, and conversions across the Commonwealth. Montague is one of four towns in the state to receive immediate funding for the Program's medium project tier.
What does that mean for Montague?
It means that we have an amazing opportunity to either improve the Carnegie Library or build a new library, so that Montague residents can access the library spaces, services, and programs that they deserve.
A new or improved library space would be fully accessible and include:
- A large community room for programs that community groups can book
- A children's room with space for play and collections for children of all ages
- A children's program room for early literacy programming and activities of all kinds
- A separate teen area
- A quiet study rooms for solo or small group work
- A reading room
- A local history room that can also serve as a meeting or program space.
There will be ample opportunity for residents to share their ideas and feedback about prospective designs, so stay tuned for upcoming community input events.
If you have questions about this project, please feel free to ask a library staff member or to contact Caitlin at librarydirector@montague-ma.gov. (Or, even better, stop by her office!)
