The Montague Public Libraries are accepting applications for a part time Branch Library Assistant for the Millers Falls Library.
A Branch Library Assistant primarily works the circulation desk, using the automated library circulation system, Evergreen. They check books in and out, answer telephone and field reference and other questions, place holds, shelve, shelf read, and straighten. Position includes computer troubleshooting, for both the public and circulation computers. Other duties include emptying a book box daily, and being able to carry books up stairs. Occasionally help with book and AV materials processing. Usually works alone, with no supervisor on-site. Positive customer service, prioritizing, and problem solving skills are all essential components of the position.
Library experience, especially with on-line circulation sysytems, is strongly preferred. This is a 12 hour per week position, with a set schedule of Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1 – 7 p.m. Saturday hours from 10 – 2 during the summer at the Carnegie Library in Turners Falls are also available in addition to the 12 hours. This is a grade A position, and step 1 is $14.24/hour.
