For the month of November, the library is hosting a Local History Scavenger Hunt. Our clues will guide you through resources in the Carnegie Local History Room, lead you to cultural attractions about town, and bring you face-to-face with historic photos at our branches in Montague Center and Millers Falls. If you answer at least three questions in a row on our puzzle sheet, you may even win a prize!
Clues may involve: using physical resources at one of the library locations, going to an attraction in Turners Falls and reading information on site, or visiting the website of a local organization.
Turn in your sheet to the circulation desk at one of the library locations or email it to elenaps@montague-ma.gov by December 1 for a chance to win a prize. Four participants will be selected to win a prize, thanks to the Friends of the Montague Public Libraries.
If you answer all nine questions, be sure to submit your puzzle sheet as soon as possible as there is a separate prize for the first two people to complete the whole sheet.
Tips for participating:
You only need to answer 3 questions (not the whole sheet) for a chance to win a prize, and the first 3 clues can all be answered in the Local History Room.
Stuck on a clue? We have hints posted in the Local History Room. Library staff are also happy to help.
We'll be hosting a Last Chance event at the Carnegie on Monday, December 1 from 4:30-6:00 PM. In addition to providing instruction on using local history resources and clues to help you finish your puzzle, we will also be featuring a local history themed button-making station and a peek at some special items from our collection!
