Happy August, Montague!
I hope everyone is staying cool out there. A reminder that the Montague Public Libraries act as de facto cooling centers during heat waves: The air conditioning is always on, and we provide water when the mercury rises above ninety.
We have several fun programs this month: Stop by the Carnegie on August 9th for the Flying High Dogs and Peskeompskut Park on August 8th for MPL’s beloved annual puppet show. This month, Montague Center will feature artworks by local artist, Ashley Liu, and will host a reception on August 6th. Elena, our Cataloger extraordinaire, will also lead the Library Learning Lab, a drop-in program on library resources. This month will highlight the content and materials that one can access with a free Boston Public Library e-card. Sessions will be held on August 15th and 25th.
Recently, we welcomed Kimber Gray onto the team to be MPL’s first ever Community Relations Coordinator. Kimber has marketing experience from working in both charitable organizations and libraries. She’ll help MPL connect with the Montague community, making sure that residents are aware of library resources and programming, and will do outreach at community events. Please say, “hello,” if you see her out in the community!
This month, we’re also welcoming three new Substitute Library Assistants to the team. Sue Richardson, Amy Love, and Elaine Moe who will help fill in when regular circulation staff take time off.
Finally, a huge “thank you!” to everyone who participated in the first “Your Library, Your Voice” community input event. It was wonderful to see so many people from the community come out to express their ideas, values, and opinions. Our next “Your Library, Your Voice” event is scheduled for Thursday, August 14th at the Montague Senior Center and via Zoom at 6:00PM. More details are coming soon!
Happy reading!
