Happy August, Montague!
How fast summer flies. Thankfully, there’s still plenty of time for warm-weather activities and the library is here to help you make the most of them. Whether you’re looking for the perfect book to read on your vacation, interested in trying a new hobby, or seeking fun programs to keep your kids engaged in learning and discovery, we have something for everyone!
This month’s special programs for kids are all about exploring the natural world. Children can learn about animal behavior under the Carnegie tent, celebrate Smokey Bear and learn about preventing forest fires at the Great Falls Discovery Center, or make a salamander craft at the Millers Falls Branch!
For teens, this month’s programs emphasize creativity and imagination. In collaboration with the Brick House and LaunchSpace, we’ll offer both found object jewelry making AND screen printing. And we’ll host D&D at the Carnegie weekly. Registration is required for all these programs.
There’s a focus on community engagement and sharing in our adult program offerings this month. Join us for outdoor artmaking or come by and work on a puzzle with friends. I’m thrilled to share that, after several successful Cookbook Clubs, Kate will compile and illustrate a community cookbook! Want to contribute? Bring your favorite recipe to this.
And, of course, if the weather’s too hot, wildfire smoke clogs the skies, or it’s raining cats, we always have movies, games, streaming services, books, audiobooks, and craft supplies to help you pass a pleasant afternoon indoors.
Happy reading, Caitlin
