Happy July, Montague,
The community has spoken! The town will move forward with the Main Library Building Project! I cannot express my gratitude for everyone who supported this project enough. Whether you volunteered for the campaign, talked about the importance of an accessible library to your friends and neighbors, or simply voted, it made a difference. We now have the opportunity to design and construct the main library that Montague deserves. A space for everyone.
It is my intention, and that of the Trustees, to hit the ground running and make good on our promise to apply for grants and to fundraise to offset the costs of this exciting project for the community. Want to help? Stay tuned for more information about fundraising and volunteer opportunities, which will be posted on the library website’s project page and on the libraries’ Facebook page.
And now back to the important business of public libraries: school is out and summer reading has started in earnest! This summer’s theme is: Plant a Seed, Read. Children can sign up for summer reading and pick up their packets at any Montague library location.
This year, summer reading is not just for kids! Adults (and teens!) are encouraged to participate in Library Bingo Blitz. Pick up a bingo card, at any MPL location, and check off a square every time you complete a reading or local cultural activity. Cards must be returned by 9/8 to be eligible for a prize.
And, as usual, library staff have stepped up and prepared a month chock full of events and programs for patrons of all ages. Check out our calendar to learn more.
Happy reading,
Caitlin
