Happy November, Montague!

It’s amazing how quickly fall has flown. Somehow, we’re here at the edge of the holiday season.

I’m very excited to announce that the new library design is largely complete! The 100% plans will be submitted to an estimation firm shortly, so we can make sure that we’re comfortably working within our budget before moving to the construction document phase. The project will participate in the MassSave Incentive Program, which will help ensure the new building meets our energy performance goals. In a couple weeks, I’ll share interior renderings of the reading room, circulation area, community room, children’s room, and teen room. Additional details will be highlighted at our next community meeting on Thursday, December 10th at 6:00PM at the Senior Center. Mark your calendar!

In the meantime, library staff are offering a number of crafty, whimsical, and art-centered programs this month. Check out our annual fairy house party, register for a paper quilling program, stop by Kate Spencer’s latest art show, participate in one of our several book clubs, or consider submitting your artwork to the Montague Center Fiber Arts show. Finally, Jake has outdone himself in his Millers Falls Movie Night selection for this month. He’ll be screening The Last Unicorn, a campy kids movie about—you guessed it: unicorns—voiced by a smashing cast that includes Mia Farrow, Jeff Bridges, Christopher Lee, Alan Arkin, and Angela Lansbury. I, unfortunately, won’t be able to attend but thoroughly encourage folks to stop by for a great show and tasty pizza.

Happy reading,
