Surprise Gift From The Carnegie Corporation

Surprise Gift From The Carnegie Corporation Teaser image
The Montague Public Libraries are delighted to announce that we will receive a special gift of $10,000 from the Carnegie Corporation.

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Carnegie Corporation launched an initiative to make $10,000 gifts (with "no strings attached") to all American Carnegie libraries still in operation. Montague Public Libraries are one of 750 Carnegie libraries in the country that continue to use their original building.

In 1903, Library Trustees and residents of Turners Falls successfully appealed to Andrew Carnegie's then-endowment. They were granted $13,500 to build what is now known as the Carnegie Library at 201 Avenue A in Turners Falls.

Thank you to the Carnegie Corporation for their gifts, past and present, to our library.
