Happy May, Montague!

The sun is shining; the breeze is warm. With spring in full bloom, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors. Check out Montague’s Library of Things to help you make the most out of being outside. We have garden tools, for adults and kids, and lawn games, like croquet, bocce, pickle ball, and a soccer set. We have binoculars to take with you on your hikes, a metal detector for finding hidden treasures, and a brand new power washer to make your deck or your car sparkling clean. And if it’s raining, we also have a TON of new board games. Check it out!

Several great programs coming up this month as well. Free Comic Book Day is May 3rd, an indigo dyeing workshop will be held at the Great Falls Discovery Center on May 4th, the reception for the Art/Poetry group show is at Montague Center Branch Library on May 5th, and on May 22nd, local historian and library trustee extraordinaire, Will Quale, will present on Teddy Roosevelt’s visit to Millers Falls at the Millers Falls Branch Library.

Finally, our new website is going to launch this month! The new site incorporates a new calendar, which will allow people to register for programs online, as well as study-room booking capabilities. Patrons will be able to reserve both the technology pod at the Millers Falls Branch Library and the Local History Room at the Carnegie Library for small meetings and quiet study. Have questions? Please feel free to reach out to me at librarydirector@montague-ma.gov

Happy reading!
